Recent changes in both data collection and data analytics have transformed decision-making methodologies in organizational settings. The ability to create knowledge from big data sets through the use of data analytics will be a critical element in sustaining competitive advantage. Within organizations, as planners craft strategy, as decision-makers select alternatives, the data analyst becomes an integral part of the modern organizational structure, and accordingly, the data analyst position will be the fastest-growing new job opportunity in business for the next 10 years. For these reasons, every concentration in the business program has been modernized and business analytics has been added as a new certificate.

With the completion of the certificate program, students will possess:

• An awareness of current ethical concerns that may arise from business analytics and key principles of ethics
• An understanding of the key foundational concepts of statistical inference (central limit theorem, properties of a normal distribution, and probabilities theory)
• An understanding of the principles of business to which analytics can be applied (such as management and marketing)
• An ability to run common analytical techniques in analytics software such as SPSS, R and/or Python 
• An ability to design and carry out an analytical project
• An ability to communicate the findings of analytics in a way that is understandable to decision-makers.

What classes will I take?

For non-degree seeking students with a BA or BS from any accredited college or university, eligibility requires a GPA of 2.5 or better from the most recent degree, good academic standing from the former institution, and a statement of intent as to why the applicant wants to take non-degree classes.
